Thus, both dental functions and aesthetic appearance are restored to the patient. It can also be applied in the absence of any teeth.

Advantages of Implant Treatment

Implant treatment is much more advantageous than bridge application or dentures used for the treatment of missing teeth.

Natural and Aesthetic Appearance

Dental implants are very difficult to distinguish from natural teeth. It provides both a natural and aesthetic smile.

Natural Sensation

Difficulties occur during chewing and speaking in dentures, but the feeling created by implant teeth while eating or talking is no different than natural teeth.

Protecting Healthy Teeth

The adjacent teeth do not need to be cut down during implant treatment. Healthy teeth are preserved.

Bone Health

After tooth loss, the tooth root as a cavity can cause diseases or damage to bone health or adjacent tooth roots. This space is filled with artificial tooth root with implant application.

Resilience

Dental implants can be used for a lifetime when appropriate care is performed. The duration varies according to the patient’s oral, dental, bone health and life habits.

Preservation of Naturalness

Missing teeth also affect the appearance of the face due to sagging cheeks. The natural face shape is preserved by preventing the deterioration of the facial structure with the implants.

For which patients is implant treatment suitable?

Implant treatment is suitable for almost everyone aged 18 and over, with jaw and bone development completed, and sufficient jawbone. It may be planned to create an infrastructure for patients with insufficient bone in the jaw for implant placement.

Intensive smoking, diabetes, heart disease and hypertension can adversely affect the success of implant treatment or the health of the patient. Treatment of these patients is planned by consultation considering their diseases.

What are the Implant Stages?

After the implants integrate with the bone, prosthetic teeth are placed on them. Depending on the patient’s choice, material options such as porcelain and zirconium are available.

Oral and Dental Care After Implant

Oral care is of great importance during and after implant treatment. Failure to provide appropriate care during and after the treatment period may affect the success of the treatment or reduce the life of the implants.

At the beginning of the treatment, your dentist will inform you about the points you should pay attention to during the process. It is very important for the success of your treatment that you fully comply with your dentist’s warnings.

During implant treatment;

  • You should not consume food or drink for 2 hours after the implant application.
  • You should not use any oral care products, brush your teeth and gargle for the first 48 hours after the implants are placed.
  • After the first 48 hours, you can gargle twice a day and brush your teeth without touching the implant area. In the meantime, you should pay attention to oral cleaning as there will be open wounds in the areas where the implants are placed. However, you should not touch the implant with a toothbrush during the healing process and avoid behaviors that will create pressure.
  • It is normal to develop swelling in the region after the surgical procedure in which the implants are placed. Ice compresses should be applied to reduce swelling.
  • Hot, cold and hard foods should be avoided for the first 10 days. After paying attention to these, it is possible to return to a partially normal diet, but care should be taken to consume warm and soft foods in general during the recovery period when the implants are expected to settle in the bone.
  • Smoking and alcohol use may cause implant treatment to fail. Hence, smoking and alcohol should be stopped before treatment and should not be used until it is completed.

After the implant treatment is completed, it is significant to use dental floss in addition to tooth brushing. Plaques may form in the implants just as they occur in natural tooth roots. For this reason, products such as interdental brushes can be preferred. The use of dental floss and mouthwash should be routinized.

Implant Lifetime

When the implanted teeth are maintained in accordance with the dentist’s recommendations, they can be used for a lifetime to the extent that the patient’s health condition allows.
